A ship manager run by people who have run ships

Owners retain a ship manager to keep a vessel safe, certified, trading and insurable without building an in-house superintendency. Trident carries that day-to-day responsibility under a transparent management agreement - one accountable manager across maintenance, drydock, procurement, crewing and commercial operations instead of fragmented vendors, with fees agreed by arrangement per vessel. The management plan, superintendent attendance and reporting cadence are scoped to vessel type, age and trading pattern, so a one-ship owner gets the same systems as a fleet operator, sized to the asset.

What sets the work apart is who does it. Trident is a working ship-management firm - not a desk administrator - led by a Master Mariner who has commanded vessels and audited their compliance. Technical decisions are taken by people with hands-on command, ISM-audit and class/flag coordination experience, in working familiarity with the IACS class societies (BV, DNV, LR, ABS, ClassNK, RINA) and independent of vetting platforms, so findings and reports are written for the asset, not the inspection platform.

Frequently asked questions

What is ship management?
Ship management is the outsourcing of a vessel's operation to a professional manager - the owner holds the asset while the manager runs it to class, flag and charterer standards. Trident covers the full cycle: technical management (maintenance, dry docking, procurement, ISM compliance), crew management, commercial management, sale and purchase, marine consultancy and vessel inspections, under a transparent management agreement.
What does a ship manager do day to day?
The daily scope spans maintenance and the planned maintenance system (PMS), class survey planning, procurement of spares and stores, Safety Management System administration with the DPA function, crew rotation and payroll, voyage technical support with performance and fuel monitoring, and monthly technical and financial reporting against the agreed OPEX budget - with a 24/7 response desk for breakdowns, casualties and PSC detentions.
How are ship management fees structured?
Management is provided under a management agreement with fees by arrangement, scoped to vessel type, age, trading pattern and the agreed scope of services. The annual OPEX budget, accounting and disbursements are managed transparently, with monthly technical and financial reporting and KPI tracking against owner and charterer expectations. Email info@trident-maritime.com or call +380 48 737 37 35 for a proposal.
Which flags and standards does Trident work to?
Vessels are managed to the IMO conventions and codes they are measured against in service: the ISM Code (with Trident providing the Designated Person Ashore function), the ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC 2006 and STCW. Surveys and conditions of class are coordinated directly with IACS member societies - the 12 members class more than 90% of global cargo-carrying tonnage - and vetting readiness covers OCIMF SIRE 2.0 for tankers and RightShip RISQ for dry cargo.
How do we switch to Trident from our current ship manager?
A takeover starts with a written brief: vessel particulars, class and flag status, last vetting reports and charterer expectations, with scope, dates and deliverables agreed in writing. Trident then reviews the ISM/ISPS/MLC documentation, corrective-action logs and PMS records, flags gaps and high-risk items before assuming responsibility, and sequences the handover so certificates, crewing and maintenance continue without interruption to trading.
Does Trident manage single vessels as well as fleets?
Yes. Trident provides management for single-vessel owners and for larger fleets. The management plan, superintendent attendance and reporting cadence are scoped to vessel type, age and trading pattern, so a one-ship owner gets the same systems - PMS, ISM/SMS, procurement and 24/7 cover - as a fleet operator, sized to the asset.
